Processing

Handcrafted fine work, unchanged for hundreds of years, this is how coarse sea salt is obtained.

It crystallizes in special pools called salinas, into which ocean water is driven and enclosed. The water gradually evaporates under the influence of the sun and wind, and salty crystals form on the bottom, creating coarse-grained Cambodian salt.

The resulting crystals are collected by hand, without any mechanical intervention, using only long wooden rakes. Thanks to this, the salt's structure remains consistent and the salt is perfectly clean and of the highest quality.

The collection and processing of sea salt, similar to pepper in Kampot, is handled by individual small farms. The families of farmers pass down the tradition of sea salt production from generation to generation. Therefore, the salt is of absolute organic quality, without the need for any subsequent refining. And just like with the pepper, we also buy the salt directlyfrom these farmers to ensure they receive fair compensation for their hard work.

Usage

Coarse-grained sea salt can be used for everyday cooking.

Season with it, use it when pickling and preserving meat, fish, and vegetables, prepare marinades from it, let the meat rest in a salt crust, or use it to garnish the surface of baked goods.

Origin

Perfectly pure, full of flavor and minerals, such is the salt from the salt pans of Kampot province in Cambodia.

The tradition of harvesting sea salt in the region is as deeply rooted as the cultivation of pepper. The conditions here are absolutely ideal. Intense sun, ocean breeze, and a welcoming climate For hundreds of years, they have encouraged the establishment of salt pans and the harvesting of salt from the ocean. Its quality can be compared with sea salt from some of the most renowned regions in France or Portugal.

Package

Thanks to the materials used and the special bag sealing technology, air and moisture do not reach the salt.

We pack coarse salt into resealable 120 g bags. Thanks to this, the salt even after opening package maintains its authentic taste and aroma. After emptying, you can, within sustainability, upcycle and continue to use them in a wide range of other ways. Each package also comes with a brochure that tells you the story of the world's best pepper and salt and introduces you to the world of .pepper..field.
